Resurfacing scheme at the A34 / A4130 Milton Interchange
OCC have programmed to complete the full width resurfacing of the entire circulatory including all of the approaches /exits over a single full weekend road closure.
Works will include drainage improvements, resurfacing to provide a new road surfacing, the reinstatement of all road markings and the recutting of all traffic loops to ensure the existing signal timings are kept.
Works will be via a full weekend road closure with there being no vehicular pedestrian access through the interchange for an entire weekend. The road will be closed at 20:00Hrs Friday 27th February and re-opened again by 05:00Hrs on Monday 2nd March, in time for the rush hour. Works will continue 24/7 with crews working day/night shifts to complete as efficiently as possible and to maximise productivity.
- The entire circulatory will be closed as will the A4130 approaches and exits towards Didcot and Steventon. There will be no vehicular access in or out of Park Drive or on/off of the A34 at this junction. A fully signed local diversion will be in place for the scheme duration.
- A set of 3-Way traffic signals will be installed on the A4130 to provide unrestricted vehicular access from Didcot into and out of both Milton Gate and the Services complex. Please note that neither Milton Gate or the Services area can be accessed direct via the roundabout.
- Vehicular Access into the Milton Park business park will only be possible using alternative routes from either Milton village, Sutton Courtenay or by cutting through from Didcot to the eastern end of Park Drive.
- There will be no pedestrian access from Milton Heights and Trenchard Avenue around the roundabout as this is also fully closed for safety reasons. Pedestrians alighting from Park Drive will be diverted along the more rural public right of way, re-emerging adjacent to the carriageway opposite the hotel on the A4130.
- A dedicated pedestrian walkway will maintain pedestrian access from Milton Gate into the Services area with pedestrian marshals on hand to assist. Pedestrian access from Didcot itself along the A4130 remains unrestricted as far as the services area and Milton Gate.
This is purely a maintenance scheme so currently everything will be reinstated 'like for like'.
A fully signed diversion will be installed routing traffic around the closure during the working hours, with all traffic going via Chilton.
I have attached copies of the GA drawing showing the agreed scope, the agreed diversion routes, along with a copy of published TTRO giving us powers to formally close the adopted highway.
All residents will receive a information letter two weeks prior to the work
All bus companies, National Highways, Emergency services, the Milton Park Community and Facilities Management and all individual businesses within the services area have been consulted with directly and mitigation put in place to minimise disruption, and this will obviously continue through the works.
