Playground's remain closed

The Government has announced that in England children's playgrounds are allowed to open from 4th July 2020.

On the 26th June, the Government produced guidance for managing playgrounds and outdoor gyms.

It is important that playgrounds are suitably safe for use and have effective inspection and maintenance regime in place prior to opening.

Playgrounds are a valuable community asset that provide children with a stimulating and tactile experience to exercise and learn through play.

Making them available provides important physical, social, emotional and cognitive development opportunities for children.

Milton Parish Council own two playgrounds within the Parish, Lambe Avenue at Milton Heights and Squire Barrett in Milton Village.

Failing to complete a risk assessment or put in place sufficient measures to manage the risk of COVID-19, could constitute a breach of Health & Safety law.

Milton Parish Council conducted a COVID-19 Risk Assessment on the 30th June (document attached).

Our Insurance provider requires us to follow the Government Guidance.

The Risk Assessment concludes:

Milton Parish Council is unable to implement adequate safety measures to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 to users of Squire Barrett and Lambe Avenue Playgrounds.
